Bilkent MATH Students Win Awards

Two students, Orhan Kara (Ph.D student), and Caner Koca (MATH/IV), received the “Orhan Alisbah Fellowship” award on October 11, at the Department of Mathematics award ceremony.
The Orhan Alisbah Fellowship is conferred in memory of Prof. Orhan Alisbah (1910-1989), one of the best known mathematicians in Turkey.
Every year since 1998, Prof. Bilsel Alisbah, son of Orhan Alisbah and currently a faculty member at MAN, has awarded fellowships to students in the department of Mathematics at Bilkent.
This fellowship ensures that the memory of Prof. Alisbah is not forgotten, continuing to serve instead as an exemplary role model for young mathematicians.

Football Team Recruiting New Players

The Bilkent University football team (soccer, that is), coached by Yıldıray Kanat and Mesut Atay, has competed in local, national and international championships over the past 3 years.
Now Bilkent’s football team is competing in the 1st inter-university league; an improvement over last year, when they played in the 2nd league. “Our goal is to continue to improve so that next year we will make it to the Super League and be able to compete for the Turkish Championship,” says Yıldıray Kanat.
The team meets three times a week, and every member follows a specialized program for strength training. Kanat invites everyone who is ready for an enjoyable, disciplined work schedule to try-out.
