The School of Applied Languages hosted an international conference entitled “Translation Studies in the New Millennium”, between October 16 and 18 at the Mithat Çoruh Auditorium.
Professionals, academicians and researchers from over 20 countries including the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Norway, Iran, Israel and Malaysia participated in sessions on a variety of topics such as the theory of translation, linguistics, literary translation, machine translation, interpreting, and translation in international organizations. The conference ended with a panel discussion run by plenary speakers Prof. Gideon Toury, from Tel-Aviv University, Prof. Basil Hatim, from Harriot Watt University, and Prof. Alexis Nouss, from Universite’de Montreal. The students of the Translation and Interpretation Department contributed a lot for the smooth running of the program.
