Three students, Utku Okur (MATH/MA), Baran Zadeoğlu (MATH/IV) and Arlindo Skënderaj (MATH/IV), received this year’s Orhan Alisbah Fellowships at a ceremony held by the Department of Mathematics on Monday, December 16. This year marks the 22nd time that the award has been presented.
The fellowships are conferred annually on the most outstanding undergraduate and graduate students of the Bilkent Department of Mathematics in memory of Prof. Orhan Alisbah (1910–1989), one of Turkey’s best-known mathematicians, and his son Bilsel Alisbah (1937–2017), former lecturer at Bilkent University. The award helps keep alive the memory of Prof. Orhan Alisbah, so that he may continue to serve as an exemplary role model for young mathematicians.
