Last semester, the Bilkent University swim team competed in the Championship Swim Meet held May 15-17 by the Turkish University Sports Federation at Süleyman Demirel University in Isparta.
The opening of the university’s new pool at the end of the previous semester meant that for the first time, the swimmers had their own facility to practice in. This improvement in training conditions was reflected in the team’s good results at the meet in Isparta, which hold great promise for even better things in the upcoming season.
During the three days of the championship meet, the Bilkent men’s and women’s teams competed in 54 individual and 8 relay events. The Bilkent women came in 6th among the 35 women’s teams at the meet. Sinem Savaşer (IE), who took 6th place in the 100m butterfly, 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley, had the best result for the women’s team.
The men’s team came in 17th among 43 teams. Ekrem Selçuk Kangal (LAW), who took 16th place in the 100m freestyle, had the best result for the Bilkent men.
