The Bilkent University Board of Trustees met on September 5, 2015. Present at the meeting were Board Chairman Ali Doğramacı, Board members Lucien Arkas, İlker Baybars, Turgay Coşkun, Gülsev Kale, Ali Karaosmanoğlu, Yahya Laleli, Ahmet Nalbur, Şencan Özme and Z. Boğaç Üner, and Rector Abdullah Atalar.
Items on the agenda for discussion by the Board of Trustees included a number of proposals put forth by the University Senate.
During the meeting, the board reviewed 2015 admissions, the budget for 2015-2016 and the PhD programs.
The board also approved a proposal for a new Master of Arts program in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, the Master of Arts in Energy Economics, Policy and Security (EEPS). The main objective of the program is to initiate and build the academic infrastructure necessary for the informed exploration of issues of energy policy and security that strategically affect Turkey’s economy and foreign policy.
The program emphasizes both basic conceptual and applied policy-related aspects of global energy markets and identifies the key agents, institutions and powers involved in processes of sustainable and affordable energy and resource management, as well as Turkey’s strategic policy choices for satisfaction of its growing energy needs in a potentially conflict-ridden global economy.
