What do you like best about Turkey?

It’s a perfect blend, where West meets East.

Are there any similarities between your country’s culture and Turkey’s?

Lots and lots of tea!

What will you miss most about Turkey/Bilkent?

I will miss how large the campus is compared to the campus back home. I will also miss the fun, relaxing atmosphere.

What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?

My favorites place on campus is Bilka. It’s nice going there to meet up with friends and just sit having a nice chat over some tea.

Why Turkey?

The country has so much history to offer and a lot of natural wonders such as Lake Tuz and Pamukkale; no two cities are exactly the same, which makes traveling more interesting.

What’s your favorite Turkish food/favorite part of Turkish culture?

I like the sweets: baklava, halva, zerde, tulumba, revani, künefe, cezerye and Turkish delight.

Where do expect to see yourself 10 years from now?

Ten years from now I want to be working within the United Nations or UNICEF as a human rights officer.

What’s the hardest challenge you’ve overcome in Turkey?

I’m actually very shy, but I’m trying to put myself out there and meet more and more people. The people here are friendly, though, which makes things easier.

What cities have you visited in Turkey? Which one do you like the best?

So far I’ve only visited Fethiye and Cappadocia. I plan to go to İstanbul and İzmir next, but I can take my time since I’m here for a year. I liked Cappadocia the best so far because it’s unique and kind of weird, being a natural wonder and all.

Do you have any hidden talents?

It’s a secret.

What’s a question you’re asked frequently, or the most interesting comment you’ve heard at Bilkent/in Turkey?

“You’re Erasmus? I thought you were a freshman!” (I must fit in well, then.)
