What do you like best about Turkey?

I actually enjoy the multicultural society in Turkey. People with different religions and beliefs are all kind and friendly to each other. It reminds me of my hometown’s society in the past.

Are there any similarities between your country’s culture and Turkey’s?

We have many similarities with Turkey. Especially, as I said, the situation before the revolution in Iran was very similar to Turkey. We still have similarities in many traditional aspects of culture.

What will you miss most about Turkey/Bilkent?

At Bilkent, the library—I’m really happy with the Main Campus Library, and I spend a great deal of time there. Also, I’ll miss the environment of Main Campus. As for Turkey, I’ll really miss the kind people and the shopping centers.

What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?

The studios in FF Building, where I spend most of my time; the library, which has many useful sources and journals; and Main Campus, which is a beautiful, cozy place.

Why Turkey?

Maybe it was not my first choice, but it was a chance for me to study at Bilkent.

What’s your favorite Turkish food/favorite part of Turkish culture?

My favorite Turkish food is pide. My favorite thing is that they try to keep their traditional culture and ceremonies.

Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?

In London, as an interior architect in my own office.

What’s the hardest challenge you’ve overcome in Turkey?

The language.

What cities have you visited in Turkey? Which one do you like the best?

Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. I like İzmir the best.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I didn’t just discover it, but designing; I found this out two years ago, and now it isn’t hidden anymore.

What’s a question you’re asked frequently, or the most interesting comment you’ve heard at Bilkent/in Turkey?
