Seven Bilkent faculty members have received Distinguished Young Scientist (BAGEP) awards for 2016. The awards are given by the Science Academy Association (Bilim Akademisi Derneği), which was established in 2011.
The award recipients are: Assoc. Prof. Selim Aksoy, Department of Computer Engineering; Asst. Prof. Bilge Baytekin, Department of Chemistry; Res. Asst. Prof. Seymur Cahangirov, Institute of Materials Science and Nanotechnology, UNAM; Asst. Prof. E. Yegan Erdem, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Emrah Özensoy, Department of Chemistry; Asst. Prof. Emine Ülkü Sarıtaş Çukur, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; and Res. Asst. Prof. Urartu Özgür Şafak Şeker, Institute of Materials Science and Nanotechnology, UNAM.
Under the BAGEP program, awardees receive 10,000 TL per year for a period of two years to support them in their research. The objective of the program is to recognize highly promising young scientists and assist them in furthering their investigations. http://bilimakademisi.org/bagep/bagep-2016/
