Katerina Dalacoura, associate professor of international relations at the London School of Economics, recently visited Bilkent to take part in the Department of international relations Seminar Series.
Dr. Dalacoura, who has published widely in the areas of political Islam, human rights in the Middle East, and culture and ethics in international relations, spoke on the topic of “Sectarianism, Ideology and Power in Middle East International Relations Post-2011.” In her talk, she touched upon a variety of issues, including conceptual clarifications regarding notions of sectarianism, ideology and power, and analysis of the interactions of those notions with the foreign policies of the Middle East’s main actors, including Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Dr. Dalacoura’s talk was followed by a fruitful question and answer session, in which students and faculty members discussed current developments in the Middle East region.
