February 25, 2017, marks the seventh year since the loss of our beloved founder, Prof. İhsan Doğramacı. To commemorate the anniversary of Prof. Doğramacı’s passing, the Mevlit will be recited at the Doğramacızade Ali Paşa Mosque on Saturday, February 25, following the noon prayers. For those who wish to attend, buses will depart from the Rektörlük building (B-block) at 1 p.m. and from the Tunus bus stop at 12:30 p.m.
On the evening of that day, the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra will give a concert dedicated to the memory of Prof. Doğramacı, who was a lifelong music lover. The orchestra, conducted by Gürer Aykal, will perform pieces by Tchaikovsky, with Stanislav Ioudenitch as piano soloist.
An additional musical event in memory of Prof. Doğramacı will take place earlier in the week, on Wednesday, February 22. The Bilkent Chamber Music Days series will offer a “Tribute to Hocabey,” with piano quintets by Dvorak and Schubert played by the Bilkent Quintet and the Eskişehir Ensemble with Tayfun İlhan.
