FEASS’s Public Administration Certificate Program for spring 2017 kicked off last week, on February 21. Dean Erinç Yeldan, Associate Dean Saime Özçürümez and Administrative Coordinator Betül Esmer welcomed the first speaker, Bilkent graduate Adem Yazıcı (POLS ’00), who is head of section on Bilateral Trade Relations at the Ministry of Customs and Trade.
In his presentation on “Economic Diplomacy,” Mr. Yazıcı spoke about the choice of public sector work as a career and the requirements to be met to pursue such a career. He also covered the rules and procedures for signing bilateral customs and trade agreements between governments. His presentation was followed by a lively discussion among the attendees—students from FEASS, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Engineering.
The program will last for ten weeks, with Bilkent graduates from various public sector organizations covering a variety of topics such as Planning Public Policies, Turkey’s Research and Development Strategy, Turkey-EU Relations and the Trajectory of the Defense Industry in Turkey. In addition, two field trips to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Customs and Trade are planned so that participants in the program can experience public institutions in action.
The seminars will be held every Tuesday at 6 p.m. in C Block Auditorium. Participants who attend on a regular basis will receive a “Public Administration Certificate.”
