Last Wednesday, March 22, over one hundred enthusiastic students and staff members gathered in the Main Sports Hall for the university’s first Martial Arts Festival. The event featured advanced level practitioners in demonstrations of aikido, judo, karate-do, kendo, taekwondo and wing-tsun.
The young athletes who participated displayed their mastery of both the physical and spiritual aspects of the various martial arts highlighted at the festival. Among them were Bilkent students who are currently involved in the martial arts programs conducted at the Sports Center.
With so many martial arts on display, the festival lasted over two hours. Students in the audience taking GE 250-251 who stayed for the entire program received points for the course.
