What do you like best about Turkey?
I love Turkey’s rich history and culture.
Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?
Definitely there are! First of all, as is well known, both Uzbeks and Turks are members of the Turkic family, which means that the language we speak is almost the same as Turkish. Secondly, we share the same culture, including cuisine and traditions.
What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?
In the case of Bilkent, I’ll miss my professors, our library and the quiet places on campus where I spend my relaxation time. I’ll also miss my friends, who are really crazy and who motivate me and make me laugh every single day. In the case of Turkey, I’ll miss Turkish hospitality, summer by the sea, the unique atmosphere of each city and Turkish nights with my friends.
What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?
My favorite place on campus is the Spring Fest area, as this is a place where I get rid of negative energy and tiredness. The second reason why I like it is that on warm sunny days my best friends and I have picnics there.
What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?
I love all types of Turkish kebabs; my favorite among them is oruk kebab. Simits, börek, sarma and different kinds of mezes are so delicious. As for Turkish culture, I love the hospitality.
Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?
Ten years from now, I’m going to be a global ambassador.
What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?
Traffic and the way people drive.
What cities have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?
İstanbul, Antalya, Bodrum and Ankara. My favorite is Bodrum, because of its beautiful and romantic sunsets.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Yes, I do: sculpting.
What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently about Bilkent/Turkey?
When I’m first chatting with people they don’t realize that I’m Uzbek, but after some time, when they learn my nationality, they ask me questions about how I learned the language, etc. People don’t accept the truth.
Describe yourself in three words.
Leader. Powerful. Forgiving.
If you could master any skill, which one would you choose, and why?
Speaking different languages.
