The UNICEF Volunteers Committee held its annual fair last week, with all proceeds from sales going to UNICEF and its work on behalf of children. The fair ran for five days, from Tuesday through Saturday, and took place in Building No. 49 in the Main Campus housing area.
Prof. Tezer Kutluk, chair of the Turkish National Committee for UNICEF, attended the opening of the event. This was on November 20, which is also the UN’s Universal Children’s Day.
Volunteers sold donations of lightly used and new clothing, books and decorative items. They also prepared various food items of their own, from cakes to pastry, to sell at the fair.
At the end of the event, the organizers expressed their gratitude to everyone—volunteers, donors and purchasers alike—who had contributed to its success and helped to make a difference in the lives of children they had never met.
