Last week, on December 10, Bilkent University celebrated the awarding of the 2018 Nobel Prizes by holding a symposium to mark the event. The Nobel Day Symposium, on the theme “Enhancement of Cultures of Creativity,” took place at the Bilkent Concert Hall, with a live transmission of the award ceremony following the speakers’ presentations.
The program began with a mini-concert by the Bilkent Brass Quintet and welcoming remarks by Prof. Tayfun Özçelik, dean of the Faculty of Science. Then, academicians and researchers from UNAM and the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences – Assoc. Prof. Ali Güre, Assoc. Prof. Ömer İlday, Research Assistant Prof. Serim İlday, Asst. Prof. Onur Çizmecioğlu, Prof. Erinç Yeldan and Prof. Ece Göztepe – spoke in turn about the achievements being honored by the 2018 Nobel Prizes in Medicine, Physics, Chemistry and Economics, as well as the Peace Prize.
