Three students, Hatice Mutlu (MATH/PhD), Ahmet Abdullah Keleş (MATH/III) and Muhammet Furkan Merdan (MATH/III), received this year’s Orhan Alisbah Fellowships at a ceremony held by the Department of Mathematics on Thursday, January 3. This year marks the 21st time that the award has been presented.
The fellowships are conferred annually on the most outstanding undergraduate and graduate students of the Bilkent Department of Mathematics in memory of Prof. Orhan Alisbah (1910–1989), one of Turkey’s best-known mathematicians, and his son Bilsel Alisbah (1937–2017), former lecturer at Bilkent University. The award helps keep alive the memory of Prof. Orhan Alisbah, so that he continues to serve as an exemplary role model for young mathematicians.
