To celebrate the New Year season, the Bilkent University Library Art Gallery is mounting a mixed exhibition of paintings and ceramics. The gallery is under new leadership, with Ayşe Arkün and Ayşegül Bora, founders of the Medya Sanat Art Gallery in Ankara, serving as co-coordinators of the library’s exhibition space since last month.Ms. Arkün, a graduate of the Department of Painting in the Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts, is a member of Turkish Fine Arts Works Owner’s Career Union (GESAM), the Ankara Women Painters Association (AKRD), the Turkey group of the Pan-Mediterranean Women Artists Network (FAM), the International Association of Plastic Arts (UPSD) and the United Painters and Sculptors Association (BRHD).
Ms. Bora, who served as the president of the Turkish Art Galleries Association (TÜSGAD) in 2004–2005, has worked in the field of art curation since 1993, when she established the Desti Sanat Art Gallery.
The New Year’s exhibition will include 96 paintings by 24 artists as well as 15 ceramic works by a single artist. An opening reception for the show will take place on Wednesday, December 18 at 6 p.m.
The exhibition will be open every day (except Sundays and Mondays) from December 18 through January 13. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
