Yiğit Abbas Yılmaz, a fourth-year student in the Department of Translation and Interpretation, has received a first prize in this year’s Young Translators Competition. Held annually by Turkey’s Directorate for EU Affairs, the event is open to translation and interpretation students from all universities in the country.
In the competition, participants are judged for their translation skills in one of three languages: English, French or German. Yiğit took first place in French, continuing a tradition of Bilkent students placing among the top three in at least one language every year since the competition began.
Winners of the competition will receive their award certificates in a ceremony to be held in Ankara and will also travel to Brussels to visit the EU institutions there.
