What do you like best about Turkey?
I love the people; they’re usually very friendly. I also admire the patriotism here – it’s quite inspiring.
Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?
The food and culture are very similar to that back home. Also, the hospitality – both nations are equally welcoming.
What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?
My friends, Spring Fest, Bilka hill and Bahçelievler. (I hope I spelled it right.)
What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?
The Spring Fest area. That place has a vibe of its own.
What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?
Menemen! My roommate used to make the best menemen, and my mouth is already watering as I think about it.
Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?
Probably living in a house full of a gazillion cats.
What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?
The language barrier may be the most difficult thing about being here, but I’m gradually getting better at overcoming it.
What cities have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?
Ankara, İstanbul, Antalya and Alanya. My favorite is Ankara because of the memories I have here, although I loved Alanya as well!
What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently about Bilkent/Turkey?
Don’t trust the weather in Ankara. It’s been three years now, and I’m still not quite used to it.
