This year’s GE100 Orientation, a course designed to welcome incoming students and acclimatize them to the university’s academic and social environment, took place September 9 – 13.
Besides introducing students to a new, intellectually stimulating academic environment, GE100 offers activities and opportunities designed to contribute to students’ personal development and enable them to become active members of their new community.
During the four-day orientation, students collected points to receive credit for completing the course by attending seminars, classical music concert, department introductions and sports activities. The program helped the new Bilkenters become acquainted with the university, its academic options and its other resources.
Students also explored the campus, including the dormitories, classrooms, studios, laboratories, sports centers and other indoor and outdoor facilities. They were introduced to the library, the venue for many social and cultural activities as well as a center for study and research. In addition, they had the opportunity to join any of the university’s numerous student clubs and societies.
