What do you like best about Turkey?
I love the diversity of this country. There are a lot of people from different religious and social backgrounds. I also love how every person that I meet is extremely friendly and willing to help even if they do not know English.
Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?
There are a number of similarities, including the cultural norms, the hospitality, the family systems and the generosity of the people.
What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?
I will miss my friends most of all, as well as the food and the Ankara weather.
What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?
The dormitory sports facilities because they help me achieve my fitness goals.
What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?
My favorite Turkish food is Kokoreç. I love the memory associated with it: my friends forced me to try it without letting me know what it was.
Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?
That is a hard question…I hope to be an entrepreneur or a politician back in Pakistan.
What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?
The hardest challenge is missing out on all the jokes my Turkish friends make, but at least I am learning a lot of unmannerly words.
What places have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?
I would love to travel all around Turkey, but I have not been able to due to my workload. For now, my favorite place in Ankara is Tunus Street.
What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently at Bilkent/in Turkey?
I have only been here for two months, but I frequently hear people say to me that Bilkent is really hard.
