Prof. Bülent Özgüç, dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture since 1987, has decided to return to his scholarly pursuits on a full-time basis. Prof. Ayhan Altıntaş has been appointed acting dean of the faculty, effective September 1, 2015.
One of the longest-serving administrators at the university, Prof. Özgüç will continue to teach in the Department of Computer Engineering.
His dedication, integrity and accomplishments over the years have been exemplary. Besides serving as FADA’s dean for 28 years, Prof. Özgüç has held a number of other positions, including the following: director of the Institute of Fine Arts (25 years), chair of the Department of Graphic Design (18 years), chair of the Department of Fine Arts (18 years) and director of the Publications Office (19 years).
Prof. Özgüç was also the founding editor-in-chief of Bilkent News; he was in addition responsible for establishing Turkey’s first website, that of Bilkent University.
Bilkent extends its gratitude to Prof. Özgüç for his devoted service and wishes Prof. Altıntaş all the best in his new position.
