In this new feature, “All About Clubs and Societies,” Bilkent News is highlighting a different student club or society each issue.
The Bilkent Quality Club (BQC) was established in 2021 by 10 Bilkent students in response to the call of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council Student Commission.
The Quality Club aims to provide Bilkent University students with awareness of and skills relating to quality implementation and culture in academic, professional and social life, and to organize activities and training sessions in line with this aim.
Academically, our goal is to give all students accurate information about the quality studies of our university and to help them learn how they can participate in the quality processes at Bilkent.
Our first event was a presentation on the topic of “The Quality Assurance System and Internal Quality Assessment Report.” Prof. Özgür Ulusoy, associate provost of the university, faculty member in the Department of Computer Engineering and member of the Bilkent University Quality Assurance Commission, informed the audience about the quality assurance system at Bilkent University, the activities of the Bilkent University Quality Assurance Commission, and the reporting process of the Internal Quality Assessment Report, which is published annually on the Bilkent University website.
In addition, we want to help Bilkent students in their career planning and personal development by raising awareness regarding the place, importance and implementation of quality in professional and social life. In line with this goal, we are planning to hold various events and training sessions during the semester, in cooperation with other associations and institutions.
The Bilkent Quality Club also focuses on changes and improvements, mostly through eliciting student feedback about developments that will affect students. We expect and support students’ participation, and endeavor to involve them in quality improvement through easily accessed surveys and other systems of communication. One of our most important duties is to keep club activity and school–club cooperation dynamic to ensure the active participation of students in surveys that are planned for the future.
