In this new feature, “All About Clubs and Societies,” Bilkent News will highlight a different student club or society each issue, starting with those that were established at the beginning of the 2021–22 academic year. The Free Dialogue Club is a new initiative whose ultimate aim is to regenerate campus culture by providing an environment dedicated to free discussion and socializing. The club creates an opportunity for students to talk about their interests and experiences; supports the progress of thought by bringing different ideas together; encourages tolerance of opposing views; and reduces communication barriers so that students may express their ideas to others.

To achieve those goals, the club will be organizing two types of events: bilateral dialogues and speeches. In the bilateral dialogues, the participants will be matched with each other randomly in pairs, where they will talk about either a topic of their own choice or one suggested to them by the club. At the speech events, participants will be given the opportunity to speak in front of an audience on a topic of their own choosing for approximately 10 minutes.

To learn more about the Free Dialogue Club, students are invited to attend the first meeting, to be held in the coming weeks, and to follow the club on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bilkent_fdc
