Lunchtime Roundtable to Improve the Library?

A group of students joined library staff for a lunchtime meeting on October 12th to discuss their library needs and expectations. As the first of many joint meetings, this was a historical occasion. Students from all of the faculties of Bilkent as well as representatives from various clubs, attended. The meeting was organized with assistance from the Student Council. The aim was to gather feedback and input from students about their experiences with, and expectations of, the library and to hear their suggestions and ideas about possible future improvements. The library staff collected a list of issues, suggestions and ideas, which will then be put into a report for future action. Some of these suggestions are: subscription to new journals in specific areas, required readings in the reserve collection, inclusion of more resources on Turkish literature and culture, improvement of the quality of the computers in the library, joint displays with student groups on special topics, a drink vending machine in the library and more group study areas. It is hoped that these meetings will be repeated every semester to ensure suggestions are followed through.
