A Return to Democratic Expansion

fikret bilaJournalist and writer Fikret Bila visited Bilkent University to discuss "Democratic Expansion: Domestic and Foreign Politics Stability," as a guest of Genç Aydınlanma Kulübü.

Mr. Bila briefly outlined the framework "Democratic Expansion," pointing out that changing the title would not change the content. He described democratic expansion as a process in domestic politics used to respond to the cultural and political demands of Kurdish people.

Mr. Bila emphasized that democratic expansion is not solely a domestic political issue but also a matter of foreign politics. He referred to the speeches of both President Gül and Prime Minister Erdoğan, stating that the importance of Turkey's role in the Middle East.

Lastly, he discussed the significance of how democratic expansion should be cautiously enacted to avoid cultural or ethnic strife in Turkey. Afterward he answered questions from Bilkenters curious about the possible effects of this policy on the country's future.
