The Foreign Policy Institute celebrated its 35th at the “Eastern Mediterranean” conference at the Bilkent Hotel on on Wednesday, November 4. Members of Ankara's Diplomatic Corps and university academics attended.
Seyfi Taşhan, President of the Institute, Rector Prof. Ali Doğramacı, and Ambassador Halit Çevik, Deputy Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, first addressed the audience. They emphasized Turkey's increasing role in the region, and the importance of the Institute's on-going work. The Rector also informed listeners of Bilkent University's plans to start an interactive video conference program with universities in Baghdad, Musul and Kerkuk in a few weeks.
The Panel was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Ersel Aydınlı, Chairman of the Department of International Relations and Board member of the Institute.
The Conference concluded with a live debate on the presentations.
