Social Awareness Projects strived to "Fight Prejudice, Know Leukemia" as part of its tenth year activities. The enthusiastic volunteers welcomed Ýbrahim Kandemir, one of the leading figures of the "Anything for a Smile" platform, to a conference addressing the fatal disease. "Anything for a Smile" was inspired by the film Patch Adams. The event took place at the Faculty of Art , Design and Architecture on November 13.
"Even something like putting on a clown's nose is important in keeping morale high for children suffering from leukemia," Kandemir said. He also stated that he would be happy to build an "Anything for a Smile" platform in Ankara and promised to do his best to develop this idea.
Those who attended the conference left more informed and empathetic about leukemia and those suffering from the disease. In order to spread awareness about Leukemia Week (2-8 November), Social Awareness Projects volunteers informed Bilkent members about leukemia and Social Awareness Projects at their stand at the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences.
