Distinguished Teachers Honored
The University is pleased to announce the recipients of the Distinguished Teachers of the Year Awards for 2012. Asst. Prof. Nedim Karakayalı, Instructor Philip Poole, and Assoc. Prof. Fatma Taşkın were chosen for demonstrating outstanding teaching abilities and for contributing to students' academic and intellectual development. Bilkent News asked this year's Distinguished Teachers for their thoughts on receiving this award.

This year's graduates will receive their diplomats at three ceremonies to be held on the same day. Graduating students should be sure to arrive at the commencement site at least an hour before the ceremony begins.

Graduation Ball Coming Up!
The 2012 Graduation Ball will be held on June 6 and 7 at the Bilkent Hotel's Sakarya Ballroom at 8 p.m., and will feature a live concert by Turkish pop singer Murat Dalkılıç.

Erasmus Photography Award Goes to Bilkent CTIS Student
Safa Topal (CTIS/II), who spent the 2010-2011 academic year at IT Carlow, Ireland, as an Erasmus student, has won second place in the photography category of the photography and short film competition organized by the Turkish National Agency to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Erasmus Programme.
The winning photographs and films were selected by a jury consisting of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSFAU) faculty members. At a ceremony hosted by MSFAU on May 4, Safa and the other winners received their awards from MSFAU's rector, Prof. Yalçın Karayağız.
