BLIS Learners Achieve "Top in the World" Results in Cambridge Learner Awards

Two leaners at Bilkent Laboratory International School (BLIS) have received awards from Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) to acknowledge their exceptional performance in the June 2012 Cambridge examination series.

The Outstanding Cambridge Learner "Top in the World" Awards recognize the success of learners who have achieved the highest standard mark in the world for a single subject. Julia Yasemin Kettner and Berkay Ekinci each achieved perfect scores in the Cambridge exam in German, earning the Top in the World award. High School Principal Michael Saffarewich noted that the awards recognized the talent, dedication and commitment of both learners and staff.

Julia and Berkay will receive their awards at a school ceremony in the near future. Janet Morris, director of communications and customer relationships at CIE, said: "It is extremely rewarding to congratulate Cambridge learners and teachers at BLIS who have worked so hard to achieve tremendous success in Cambridge examinations. The results are a reflection of the enormous talent in Turkey, not only amongst learners but also within the teaching profession. Learners from BLIS have a bright future ahead of them, and I wish them every success in their future."

CIE, part of the University of Cambridge, provides internationally recognized education programs and qualifications for 5- to 19-year-olds. More information may be found at www.cie.org.uk.
