A few years ago, there was a music magazine (it's no longer published in Turkey), and every month it featured a list of songs to listen to that month. Just for this semester, I'm writing this column, and I plan to do a similar thing. At the beginning of each month I'll prepare a list. The lists might have themes, or they might consist of newly released songs. I hope you like my lists.

This month's list is an upbeat one -- at beginning of another semester full of projects and exams, I think we all need cheerful songs. The list includes both new songs and slightly older ones. My personal favorites from this month's list are: Pyramid's "Wolf," MS MR's "Fantasy" and Kitten's "Cut It Out."

You can find the songs on my Soundcloud page (www.soundcloud.com/idylles).

Here's this month's list:

1. Kitten - Cut It Out

Kitten is a new band, and their lead singer, Chloe Chaidez, is only 17. "Cut It Out" is from their new EP "Cut It Out," and the song is definitely addictive. You can download it from the band's webpage, kittentheband.com.

2. Moon Boots - No One

Akiiki Balondemu, also known as Moon Boots, is a disco music producer from Uganda, and he has recently been one of my favorite musicians. His new song "No One" is really good, and is a free download on Moon Boots' Soundcloud page.

3. MS MR- Fantasy

MS MR is an amazing new band. So far, they've released only one EP, called "Candy Bar Creep Show." Their debut album will be released on May 14, and this song is from it.

4. Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks

Of Monsters and Men is a five-piece band from Iceland. They released their debut album, "My Head is an Animal," in 2011, so this song is not a new one, but recently I've been hearing it everywhere. It has an interesting video, and the song cheers me up.

5. Peace - Follow Baby

Peace is one of the bands in BBC's Sound of 2013 list, which I wrote about last week, and "Follow Baby" is their debut single, which was released in April 2012. Their debut album will be released on March 25.

6. Flight Facilities - A Fifth of Beethoven (Flight Facilities Edit)

Flight Facilities are an Australian DJ duo. This song is the Flight Facilities version of Walter Murphy's disco adaptation of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. It's fun and interesting.

7. Passion Pit - Carried Away (Ashworth Remix)

Passion Pit's album "Gossamer" was one of my favorite albums of 2012. I've listened to a lot of remixes of the song "Carried Away," and this quickly became one of my favorites.

8. Pyramid - Wolf

Pyramid is a French producer from one of my favorite record labels, Kitsuné. "Wolf" is probably one of the best songs in this list.

9. Crayon - Cosma

Crayon (or Le Crayon) is also a producer and musician from Kitsuné. "Cosma" and "Wolf" were both released on the same EP (Crayon & Pyramid - "So Far Gone") by Kitsuné.

10. Christopher Owens - New York City

The now disbanded band Girls' frontman Christopher Owens released his solo album "Lysandre" this year, and this song is from it.

11. Little Boots - Superstitious Heart

Little Boots is an English electropop singer. "Superstitious Heart" was released on January 14 as one of four songs on "LB." The song is available on her Soundcloud page.

12. Matt Mendez & Riggs - Voyeur

The first time I heard the name Matt Mendez & Riggs was in connection with a remix of The Weeknd`s song "Valerie." Recently, "Voyeur" was released as a single, and the song is a free download on Matt Mendez`s Soundcloud page.

13. Charli XCX - You (Ha Ha Ha) (Goldroom Remix)

Charli XCX is an English singer-songwriter. After two mixtapes and an EP, "You (Ha Ha Ha)" is the first single from an album she will release in 2013. This is the song`s Goldroom remix.

14. Goldroom - Sweetness Alive (Touch Tone Remix)

Goldroom is an LA-based producer. His name was everywhere last year, and he's made a lot of remixes. This is a remix by Touch Tone of Goldroom's song "Sweetness Alive."

15. Disclosure - White Noise (ft. AlunaGeorge)

English brother duo Disclosure mixes dance influences to create their own style -- their own "bass-moving pop," according to Pitchfork. In this song they collaborate with AlunaGeorge, who came in second on BBC`s Sound of 2013 list.
