BY ECEM NAZ BOYACIOĞLU (LAW/II)

The annual Filmekimi festival organized by the İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts attracts thousands of enthusiasts every year with its selection of films, many of which have been nominees and recipients of awards at major film festivals worldwide.

Among this year's films are the smash hit at the Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” by Benh Zeitlin; “The Door,” directed by István Szabó, president of the international jury for the 2012 Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival; “Amour” by Michael Haneke; “Pieta” by Kim Ki Duk; “The Angels' Share” by Ken Loach; and “Polluting Paradise” by Fatih Akın.

In this, its 11th year, Filmekimi will offer screenings in six cities besides İstanbul: Bursa, İzmir, Ankara, Erzurum, Gaziantep and Diyarbakır. In Ankara, a partial selection from the complete list of films will run at the Büyülü Fener in Kızılay over three days, October 12-14. Tickets for the films are available at Biletix sales outlets and www.biletix.com. http://filmekimi.iksv.org/tr/index.asp
