Needed: Help to Fight Against Erosion
One of Turkey's most pressing environmental problems is soil erosion. It is estimated that in about 40 or 50 years, erosion will turn much of Turkey into a desert. To avoid this, TEMA (Turkish Fight Against Erosion Association) is trying to increase society's awareness of erosion's dangers. As part of this effort, the association has declared December 1 through 7 Struggling Against Erosion Week. During this week, Bilkent's Environment Club and TEMA representatives will operate stands on campus where everyone can register to help TEMA or contribute to the tree planting 10 Billion Oak Seed Campaign. We also hope you will pin to your collars the green leaves we will distribute during Erosion Week. Don't let Turkey become a desert!
