Music Bonds People
and Goes Beyond

A few weeks ago, Bilkent News received a letter from a Bilkent student majoring in music. She wanted to share with us her sentiments about her experience during a summer school she attended last summer in France. It is not a typical "letter to the editor," seeking an answer to a question or a solution to a problem. This letter carries a positive message one would wish everybody on the planet would hear. Here is the letter:

My name is Sezin (Ekebalkan) and I'm a first year student at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. I'm very excited to share with you some good feelings from the summer.

Goof Troop

There were two mistakes in the last issue. The telephone number for the state Opera House was wrong. The correct number is 324-2210.

Our chart on the first page giving the details of the 75th anniversary competitions contained an inaccuracy regarding the painting category on "Republic and Atatürk". As opposed to other categories, students can enter this contest with three original works.

We apologize any inconvenience these errors might have caused to our readers.

On Friday, October 9, there was a revolution on Bilkent's Main Campus. Not everyone may have heard of it, but there was live music and a "Happy Hour" in Bilkent Cafeteria between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. It was a revolution because it was the first time and place on campus where students were listening to live music, having beer, and enjoying themselves since the the Spring Fest.
