Top-scorers Choose Bilkent
This year Bilkent University was chosen by 37 of the 100 top-scorers of the 2000 University Entrance Exam. Out of these 100 top-scorers, thirty chose to study at Boğaziçi, thirteen chose Sabancı University, METU got fourteen and Hacettepe received four studnets. Koç took one. (One of the top-scorers did not hand in his university form and was out of this year's process.)

Ramazan Bitirgen, who took second place in the quantitative area and third in equally-rated, chose Bilkent Computer Engineering. He says:"It was'nt easy to score high in the university entrance exam. I had to give up many things at high school to achieve this score. The main reason I chosen Bilkent was because it's a foundation university. Compared to other universities, Bilkent has better academic and social facilities. I chose Computer Engineering because I believe it is the basis of all the branches of engineering. Bilkent is a good first step if you are interested in an academic career; and that is what I want to pursue after graduation, either in Turkey or abroad."

İbrahim Ethem Pekküçüksen, who ranked eighth in the quantitative area, came to Bilkent Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The reason he chose Bilkent: "I live in Konya and in Konya it is everybody's dream to come to Bilkent. Bilkent graduates have no trouble finding jobs after graduation, and many have the opportunity of going abroad to further their education. After all the hard work to get into the university, I think I deserved a place in a university like Bilkent." İbrahim added that he chose Electrical and Electronics Engineering because he finds it extremely interesting.

Hasan Tahsin Oğuz, who was fiftieth in the quantative area, also chose Bilkent Electrical and Electronics Engineering. "Bilkent is the best place to excel academically in Electrical and Electronics Engineering," he says. Tahsin is very happy with the campus, too. He finds it very clearly laid out, and easy to find his way around. He hasn't got used to the city center yet and he finds it very complex. But after a time he's sure to get accustomed to it. Tahsin plans to do his graduate work in the U.S. Afterwards he wants to come back to Turkey to work.
