Young Chefs of Turkey Recognized

The Bilkent Unıversity School of Tourism and Hotel Management hosted the 7th annual Young Chef of Turkey Competition on Monday, April 7. This pitted “commi” and “demi” chefs, under 27 years of age, from Hotels and restaurants which are members of the “Chaine des Rotisseurs”. Among the competitors, Pamela de Andria (THM/'00), who is presently the “commi” Chef at the Movenpick Hotel İstanbul, cooked Stewed Beans with Sweetbreads, a rare and beautiful example of Turkish cuisine.

Competing Chefs and Juror Executive Chefs came from famous Hotels and Restaurants in Turkey, such as the Ritz Carlton, the Four Seasons, Çırağan Kempinsky, the Ankara Hilton, the Sheraton and Bilkent Hotel. The importance of this competition underscores the fact that cooking is still a major aspect of the hospitality industry, despite all the modern advancements in computerization and technology. The talents of “Young Chefs” remains the main driving force behind innovations in today's modern cooking styles.
President of the “Chaine des Rotisseurs”, Mr. Atok İlhan, presented a trophy to the School of Tourism and Hotel Management in recognition of its contributions to the Competition at the Ceremony Reception. The School, in reciprocity, accorded trophies to the three winning young chefs, Mr. Cihan Çetin from the Ritz Carlton, Mr. Ercan Yamantürk from Çıragan Kempinsky and Ms. İnanç Celenkil from the LOKANTA Restaurant."
