This year Bilkent ACM SIGART (Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence) celebrates its tenth anniversary. Everyone interested in AI and cognitive science is welcome to attend the various seminars, discussion meetings and other events held throughout the year. As a local chapter of the International Association for Computing Machinery, SIGART also strives to promote more general computer awareness and jointly organizes the annual Software Quest contest (http://SoftwareQuest.org), to be held early next month.
SIGART starts off this semester’s activities by showing Steven Spielberg's blockbuster movie, AI. This futuristic film follows the adventures of an adopted robot child and his struggles to become “real”. The film raises many controversial questions concerning our relationship with machines, and should spark some lively discussion. Don’t miss it!
