The student organization Bilkent Astronomy is back in action, holding its first telescopic observation of this semester last Tuesday, April 11. Focusing on the big planet Jupiter with its four Galilean moons, the observation lasted for almost two and a half hours, much to the excitement of those in attendance.
The organization plans to hold more observations in the coming weeks, to observe celestial objects such as the Orion Nebula and Saturn with its beautiful rings. All are welcome to attend. Information about the next observation will be sent out through the BAIS e-mail system and may also be found on the website http://www.fen.bilkent.edu.tr/~astro/.
Bilkent Astronomy is run by a group of graduate and undergraduate students and is advised by the Department of Physics, which also provides use of its facilities.
