The Bilkent University Masters in Conference Interpreting Programme (CINT), an EU Center of Excellence, has initiated a new training program aimed at enlarging its scope.
With the support of Dean Hitay Özbay and the director of the Programme, Prof. Tanju İnal, Bilkent CINT has started providing videoconference distance training modules in interpreting from Turkish for EU staff conference interpreters. Bilkent graduate Zeynep Ulus Şengel and Bilkent trainer Ebru Kanık, both professional conference interpreters, along with the Bilkent CINT staff, conducted the first training session on December 3.
The first module was well received as providing valuable support for EU staff, and the sessions are to continue in 2016. This initiative marks the beginning of a change in the scope of the Bilkent Center of Excellence, not only as a program supported and hailed by the EU but also as an equal partner in the provision of training of a high standard for EU institutions.
Earlier this year, Bilkent CIMT was recognized by the European Commission as an “Exemplary Center of Excellence” among all universities training in the scope of the EMCI (European Masters in Conference Interpreting) curriculum.
