A blitz chess tournament open to university teams from Ankara was held at Başkent University on December 23. The Bilkent team, consisting of Ömer Faruk Özer (IE), Tuna Özateş (EE), Mert Özateş (EE), Batuhan Sütbaş (EE), Oğuzhan Öztürk (ME), Gülce Pulat (CS), Atahan Aclan (ME) and Barış Aksakal (CTIS), took first place by a clear margin, with Ömer, a World Chess Federation (FIDE) International Master, and Tuna Özateş, a FIDE Master, taking the top two places in the individual standings.
In the team standings, Başkent and Gazi Universities came in second and third, respectively.
