Bilkent Cinematics

The newly formed Bilkent Cinematics aims to bring Bilkent’s film lovers together and create a community through screening and postscreening discussion of chosen movies. The society is made up of a small group of student and faculty volunteers, and this group chooses the film selections.

So far, the Bilkent Cinematics has screened “The Wall,” “Spirited Away,” “Blow-Up,” “My Own Private Idaho” and “Breathless,” and lively discussions and debates have always followed. Coming up is a screening of David Lynch’s groundbreaking surrealist horror film “Eraserhead,”  about a man trying to care for his hideous, alien-like baby. After that, it will be Kurosawa’s dazzling “Rashomon” on Dec. 3.

No cinematic expertise is required to join the Bilkent Cinematics or to attend one of the screenings—all that’s needed is a love of movies.

All interested are encouraged to drop by for Lynch’s “Eraserhead,” to be shown Thursday, Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in FFB-05. It’s one of the strangest and most unforgettable horror films ever made, and one of the most influential. Junk food and other refreshments are always served.
