Last week, the UNICEF Volunteers Committee held their annual fair in Building No. 49 in the Main Campus Housing area to raise funds for UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund. The event kicked off on Monday at noon, and continued through Sunday.
With many Bilkenters stopping in to look and staying to shop, volunteers were busy selling the donations they had collected from the university community, ranging from lightly used and new clothing to household items and, of course, books. Especially popular were the homemade goodies prepared by the volunteers and their friends, including cakes, cookies, jams and marmalade.
At the end of the fair on Friday, organizers expressed themselves as pleased with the success of the event and extended their gratitude to volunteers, donors and purchasers. Most importantly, the funds raised by the committee will make a difference in the lives of children in need.
