The 30th Graduate Research Conference organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EE) and the Bilkent IEEE Student Branch took place on Friday, March 22 in the lecture halls on the ground floor of the EE building. During this day-long event, Bilkent EE graduate students described their state-of-the-art research projects in oral and poster presentations.

This year’s conference included 57 oral presentations grouped into 12 sessions, with 3 sessions taking place concurrently during each of four time blocks.

In the oral sessions, graduate students shared their research projects and answered questions from the audience. Various areas of electrical and electronics engineering, including signal processing, communications, electromagnetics, biomedical engineering, electronics, photonics, control, robotics, networks and nanotechnology, were covered.

During the two poster sessions, attendees had a chance to interact with the 45 presenters and learn more about the research being conducted in the Bilkent EE department. The conference also included some invited poster/demo presentations by EE undergraduate students.

At the end of the day, four “best oral presentation” and two “best poster” awards were given out. The oral presentation awards went to Bahram Khalichi, Çağrı Göken, Ehsan Kazemivalipour, and İbrahim Kurban Özaslan, while Büşra Tegin and Mert Kalfa received the best poster awards.

The conference was chaired by Prof. Sinan Gezici of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. EE graduate students Aras Yurtman, Merve Begüm Terzi, and Ahmet Safa Öztürk, along with the undergraduate students Abdulkadir Erol (CS/I), Yiğit Efe Erginbaş (EE/II), and Deniz Ulusel (CS/IV) from the IEEE Bilkent Student Branch, took part in organizing the event.

The event offered a day full of knowledge sharing, and a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to experience the world of research in engineering and science. Participants also had a chance to interact with researchers from other universities as well as professionals from some of the top engineering companies in Turkey.
