Asst. Prof. Nazmi Demir, chair of the Department of Banking and Finance, in the School of Applied Languages, passed away on March 27, 2016. We wish to extend our condolences to the Demir family, to Dr. Demir’s students and to the Bilkent community.
After long-term employment with high positions in various departments of the Turkish government, Dr. Demir joined Bilkent University, first in the Department of Economics, then in 1998 as Chair of the Department of Banking and Finance, where he teaches micro and macro economics, statistics, and other courses in banking and finance.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Doğramacızade Ali Paşa Mosque, at noon prayers. A vehicle will depart from the front of the FEASS Building at 12:45 p.m.
Dr. Demir will be sadly missed not only by his family, but also by his friends and colleagues at Bilkent.
