On Wednesday, March 4, Bilkent students gathered around the fountain in front of the Faculty of Science building to commemorate the Turkish soldiers who died during the February 27 air attack on their position in Syria’s İdlib province.
The commemoration began with the reading of a declaration by the Student Council, which stated, “The Turkish nation was deeply grieved by the loss of 36 soldiers. We are gathered here to preserve the memory of our martyrs and to mark the importance of their struggle across the border. We wish to extend condolences to their families and to the nation. ”
The declaration was followed by a moment of silence and then the singing of the national anthem.
