The Bilkent Humor and Culture Club has organized a new series of events called “BilkentTalks.” These events are intended to give members of the Bilkent family an opportunity to present their ideas or experiences in front of an audience. The talks are being recorded so that you can watch them on the YouTube BilkentTalks channel or at mizahkultur.bilkent.edu.tr.
The first BilkentTalks event was held on April 1, at Mithat Çoruh Auditorium, with a wide range of Bilkenters in attendance. Among the speakers were Rector Abdullah Atalar, Celal Selçuk Karaca (Humor and Culture Club president), Assoc. Prof. Azer Kerimov (Department of Mathematics), Muzaffer Tunca (instructor, FAE), Hande Uçartürk (Library staff) and students Karya Çandar, Harun Özdemir, Ayberk Eryılmaz, Anıl Öztürk, Orhan Küçük and Abdullah Atay.
Club members stated that they were very pleased to see Bilkenters’ interest in the first BilkentTalks event and would like to hold another installment soon. Undergraduate and graduate students, instructors and members of all academic units at Bilkent are welcome to participate as speakers or audience members. If you want to be a speaker, contact the club at syataman@gmail.com or celalselcukkaraca@gmail.com.
BilkentTalks is not the Humor and Culture Club’s only big project this semester. This week, the club will be publishing Bilkent’s first humor magazine, Tosbaa. The magazine can be obtained free of charge from the club’s stand at the upcoming Spring Fest.
