This summer, the global energy management company Schneider Electric welcomed 50 student finalists to Paris for the third year running to compete in its “Go Green in the City” international case challenge. In the competition, business and engineering students develop ideas for intelligent energy management.
Among the students from 19 countries who designed approximately one thousand innovative projects for the 2013 challenge, the team of İhsan Çulcuoğlu (EEE) and Sun Ok (CS) from Bilkent University not only made it to the finals in Paris, but saw their project selected second runner-up by the executives of Schneider Electric. Titled “GLED,” the project proposed to decrease waste of the heat energy generated from outdoor LED lights by converting it to electricity.
