A team of Bilkent students, TechWeb, made up of members Mehmet Furkan Şahin (CS/I), Baraa Orabi (CS/II) and Erdem Bıyık (EE/II), took first place in Turkey in the IEEExtreme 7.0 Programming Competition, with a score of 1120.51 points. TechWeb also ranked 100th among all 7,500 participants worldwide. BangCode1 from Middle East Technical University took second place in Turkey, with 1073.54 points, and NullPointer1 from East Mediterranean University third, with 937.52 points.
The other Bilkent teams in the competition were SystemExit (fourth place in Turkey), Replay (sixth), BilkentInvokers (seventh) and HAL9K (eighth).
IEEExtreme is a 24-hour programming competition that takes place every year across the globe, organized by IEEE.
