Two teams of Bilkent students took second and third place in Turkey in the IEEExtreme 9.0 Programming Competition, held October 24.
The team made up of Fatih Karaoğlanoğlu (CS/IV), Adem Derinel (EEE/II) and Erdem Bıyık (EEE/III) ranked 78th among more than 5,000 international participants, giving them second place in Turkey. Mustafa Avcu (EEE/I), Metehan Kaya (CS/I) and Ömer Karakaş (EEE/I), whose team ranked 82nd internationally, took third place in Turkey. Both teams were awarded prizes by IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
First place in Turkey went to a team from Middle East Technical University, which came in 63rd worldwide.
IEEExtreme is an international 24-hour programming competition that takes place annually, organized by IEEE in countries around the world. Here on campus, the Bilkent IEEE Student Branch hosts the competition every year.
