Last weekend, the Psychological Counseling and Development Center, the Teaching and Learning Support Center and the Department of Philosophy came together to host a special event, “Bilkent Well-Being Days.” Open to all Bilkent students, the event took place online on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, February 19 and 20.
The topics discussed during Saturday’s sessions were “Recognizing Emotions and the Role of Emotional Intelligence in Discovering Ourselves,” by clinical psychologist Beliz Kemik; “Behavioral Flexibility: How Useless Information Can Help Us Navigate in a Chaotic Context,” by Dr. Ali Bayramoğlu; and “The Role of Connection in Regulating Emotion,” by Asst. Prof. Meltem Anafarta Şendağ.
On Sunday, Asst. Prof. Tufan Kıymaz discussed “The Stoic Philosophy of Emotion in Theory and Practice”; Dr. Ceren Gürdere spoke about “Self-Compassion and Conscious Awareness”; and Prof. Üstün Dökmen explored the question, “Do Emotions Arouse Thoughts, or Thoughts Emotions?”
